Virtual tours of the Air and Space Museum
I have had the pleasure of collaborating with the Air and Space Museum for several years, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Our collaboration began with the creation of a virtual tour of the temporary exhibition "Verdun, the Air War," above. The Air and Space Museum has several advantages in creating a virtual tour of an exhibition. First, it has a practical, even "legal," aspect regarding accessibility for people with reduced mobility (PRM). Indeed, even if the museum is completely accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM), this is not the case for these aircraft, such as the Concorde or the Dakota. Furthermore, some areas are simply not accessible, such as the cockpits of aircraft, which is why a virtual tour is being created. Note that it is available to the public, whether or not they have access to PRM. The second advantage is to keep track of the temporary exhibitions, allowing for reference once the exhibitions have been dismantled.
Virtual tour of the exhibition 3 Pilots, One War
Presented by October 31, 2018 At March 10, 2019, the exhibition "Three Pilots, One War, Personal Accounts of Europeans in 1914-1918" is the latest commemoration of the Centenary of the First World War at the Air and Space Museum, and follows The Great War of the Aviators (2014-2015) and Verdun, the Air War (2016-2017).
More intimate than the previous ones, this free exhibition will present the personal journey of three aviators of the Great War: a Frenchman, Jean Chaput (1893 ? 1918), a German, Peter Falkenstein (1892 ? 1966) and a British, Bernard Curtis Rice (1891 ? 1933). These particular cases will be an opportunity to evoke, by extension, different aspects of the air war practiced by the three belligerent countries, such as the training of aviators, flight conditions, daily life within the squadron, relations with the ?rear? or even the relationship with the enemy and death. The exhibition will conclude with a link with the present concretized by works produced by French, German and British high school students and the evocation of the joint exercises and military operations carried out today by the French, German and British air forces.
